I hope this is my last political post, I just want to mainly use Facebook to find clients, and see banger memes Haha
I’m not an expert in human nature and psychology, but I tried to understand and read about it, and I could be wrong.
Duterte admittedly has a foul-mouth, but he genuinely loves this country & wanted to make things better
Humans are flawed, including yours truly, but Duterte’s flaw is his mouth; he was not careful with it. To quote “The tounge has no bones, but it’s strong enough to break the heart, be careful with it”
One of his mistakes is insulting BBM a “weak leader” even before the election; in my theory this is where the feud started, Marcos could have taken it personally , and became vindictive ( but I could be wrong); Duterte doesn’t know who he was dealing with.
But instead of taking it as a constructive criticism, BBM became so vindictive, he wanted to prove he’s not weak as the old man he thinks he is.
After winning, he did not give Sara the Defense Secretary position, and that’s when I thought something was off behind closed doors
Marcos could have ignored the insults, besides Dutertes gave way for him to get to Malacanang again; realistically, Sara had more chances of winning than him, and Duterte Sr buried their father to Libingan ng mga Bayani which they were denied for decades, Dutertes burned their political capital for it.
For the sake of national welfare, interests, and stability, he should have brushed it off, but nah, he wanted to prove he’s not weak; Duterte doesn’t know who he was dealing with
Another thing is he may be secretly envying Duterte, for the latter is more loved by the people.
To paraphrase, in governance, the ideal is to be feared and loved, but if one cannot have both, it is better to be feared than loved Duterte’s strategy in governance is to be feared, unlike Marcos he wants to be loved. IMHO, at the present, Duterte is now feared & loved, but Marcos achieved the opposite outcome – he’s now hated by many, if not majority..
Does he secretly envy that Duterte is more loved by the people?
Personally, I don’t hate Marcos, but I’m pissed off at him, I’ll be lying if I say I am not angry, I am angry.
I hope he finds a way to bring Duterte back home, both of them should talk it off for the country, burn political capital to have the impeachment case cancelled. Clearly, the father wants her daughter to become president, maybe the Marcoses can give way this time.
Utang na loob or gratitude is a big thing in our culture, hence many people think Marcos betrayed Dutertes despite what they have done for their family
I hope forgiveness wins in the end, Erap and Arroyo were able to do it.
Though, let “bygones be bygones” or to forgive would now be difficult at this time, because emotions are so high, but if both of them could share the same stage again and lead this nation with unity, as their election promise, there’ll be order, and that’ll be beautiful.
What is the alternative to order? Chaos & instability.
To speak to the interests of both, it’ll be in the interests of Marcos to find a way to bring back Duterte home , besides there are a lot of legal lapses when they take away Duterte and people hated him and some are angry, who knows what’s going to happen in the future, especially when they’re not in power anymore? And he’ll be spending the rest of his 3 years with more peace, less politicking, and more work for nation building.
It’ll be in the interest of Duterte to make deals with the Marcoses, trust them again, lead quietly as Mayor of Davao, avoid making national speeches and appearances, and her daughter’s impeachment could be cancelled, and may win the presidency in 2028 which what he wants. Will they still be able to trust each other again?
And with Bayanihan, both prominent political figures & families, together, could do great things for this country
